As corporate communicators, we’ve all heard—and grumbled about—terrible buzzwords and trite phrases.

“Low-hanging fruit,” “out of the box,” “deliverables,” “ideate"—it’s hard to decide which is the worst offender.

But have you ever found yourself—in a moment of weakness, obviously—accidentally letting one of these buzzwords slip?

Perhaps you’re in a meeting and everyone is talking about leveraging synergies, and suddenly you find yourself telling everyone to—gasp!—circle back next week.

You immediately regret it. You tell yourself it’s OK, that you were sitting in a swirling cloud of gobbledygook and your guard was down; you weren’t thinking straight.

The regret still stings, though.
