4 perks of being a nonprofit PR pro

Being a PR, marketing or communications pro is different when you work for a nonprofit organization. Though your hard work might not always get recognized (outside of the recognition offered by Ragan’s Nonprofit PR Awards), the fringe benefits are priceless.

Here are just a few of the perks:

1. Your ROI is measured in lives changed. Ultimately, your job is about helping people earn diplomas, building homes or improving public health. You can’t put a dollar amount on that.

2. You build the longest-lasting relationships. The students/clients/people you serve could be your co-workers and donors someday.

3. You get to tell the best stories. Press releases are a chore to write-unless they’re about the well your organization built in arural community that never had one before.

4. You get to tell it from the heart. When promoting your blog post/Facebook post/media pitch, you’re really promoting something about which you care deeply. Not a bad way to spend your career.

The 2016 Nonprofit PR Awards are open to marketing, PR and communications professionals in nonprofit organizations in government, education, philanthropy, civic groups, professional associations and more.

We want to see your blog, social campaign, fundraising campaign and/or event PR (to name a few) that transformed the way nonprofits communicate.

There are 18 categories, plus a Grand Prize winner. Any work executed from Jan. 1, 2015, through May 31, 2016, is eligible to win. See all the categories and enter now.

The early bird deadline is April 27. Enter now!
