Infographic: The workplace trends that will dominate in 2016

Remember when everyone was complaining about all those pesky millennials entering the workforce a few years ago?

Well, this year millennials are becoming managers, Baby Boomers are retiring, and the first college graduates of Generation Z are joining the working world.

The times are a-changin’, and an infographic from Brighton School of Business and Management discusses workplace trends that most of us will see in 2016.

The more notable ones include:

  • Boomerang employees. These workers who leave a company and then return at a later stage will gain more acceptance in the workplace.
  • Maternity leave: Sixty-four percent of employees say they want unlimited maternity leave, but only 1 percent of American companies offer it. That’s likely to spark some changes this year.
  • Work/life balance. Because a significant amount of millennials will be having children within the next few years, companies will probably expand their flexible-work options.
  • Automation: Studies predict that within the next two decades machines will be able to do half of all jobs.
