KFC introduces George Hamilton as new Colonel Sanders

Viewers seem to either love or despise KFC’s current ad campaign, which cycles in different actors and comedians to tackle the role of the iconic Colonel Sanders.

In the latest installment, George Hamilton debuts as “Extra Crispy Colonel Sanders” to tout the brand’s new extra crispy chicken offering. Here he is in all his bronzed glory:

Hamilton follows a rotating cast of actors, which include Darrell Hammond, Norm MacDonald and Jim Gaffigan.

The fast-food chain’s chief marketing officer, Kevin Hochman, said in a press release that the changes are intentional:

Just like no one person could play the Colonel, no one Colonel can sell both Original Recipe and Extra Crispy fried chicken. And no actor was more qualified to play our Extra Crispy Colonel than a very tan George Hamilton.

In a press release, Hamilton played up the connection between his appearance and the chain’s offering:

I like to think that I know a thing or two about being extra crispy. It didn’t take long for me to get into character as the Extra Crispy Colonel. One could argue that my entire career has been leading up to this role.
