The polarizing campaign manager for Donald Trump was fired Monday, and many of the reactions on the web were widely celebratory.
Even “Team Trump” colleague, advisor Michael Caputo, shared his elation with the world:

Caputo resigned shortly thereafter. Here’s what he told campaign chairman Paul Manafort:
I regret sending out a tweet today alluding to the firing of Corey Lewandowski. In hindsight, that was too exuberant a reaction to this personnel move. I know this is a distraction from the kind of campaign you want to run, so I’m resigning my position as director of communications for caucus operations at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Let’s make this immediate.
Earlier in the campaign, Lewandowski was accused of manhandling Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, who was eventually fired from the conservative news outlet for accusing it of failing to take her side.
Fields had this to say in the wake of Lewandowski’s ouster:
Hey @CLewandowski_ I hear @BreitbartNews is hiring https://t.co/YKOZqRdi0p

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks was brief in her statement announcing Lewandowski’s departure, careful not to tip what reports are saying was an acrimonious relationship with Manafort.
“The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication, and we wish him the best in the future,” Hicks said.

On Monday, Lewandowski fielded questions from CNN reporter Dana Bash in an effort to tell his side of the story:
Not everyone was happy to see Lewandowski go, though:
.@CLewandowski_ did an extraordinary job with limited resources and the entire establishment against him. Much respect.#Trump2016 #Trump

According to the New York Post, Trump’s daughter Ivanka was vocal in her distaste for Lewandowski’s methods and could have contributed to their mutual parting of ways.
